The Golden Triangle motorcycle Holiday
The first motorcycle tour of the season is always our favorite and this one will be no exception. From Chiang Mai city we head far north to experience the infamous Golden Triangle where Thailand, Burma and Laos meet. We will be riding along many of the old Teak logging trails (now sealed roads) and the opium routes previously used by the infamous Khun Sa one of the worlds most powerful and most wanted drug barons in his time. From here we ride awesome motorcycle roads to Phu Cui Fah forest for a birds eye view of Thailand and nearby Laos from above the clouds....Plus much more....read on

Our journey will take us around 1500 kilometers riding the side routes on roads generally regarded as too winding and steep for most tourists but, for the keen biker our routes offer spectacular scenery with barely another road user to be found. Glorious sweeping bends with perfect cambers to lean the bike gently through the jungles, quant hill tribe villages in quintessential Northern Thailand countryside. People have called this pure motorbike heaven and with roads equal (we say better) to European standards. This is biking at it's purest!
Your tour will take you through many diverse regions riding routes parallel with the Burmese and Laos border into the infamous golden triangle previously regarded as one of the leading centers for opium production in the world, orchestrated by the infamous 'Khun Sa" one of the worlds most wanted drug warlords. Known as the 'golden triangle' as all drug deals were made in gold! But, this was in previous years!
Today, life is far more relaxed! The days of drug and Gun
dealing are no longer however, some of the region is now
under siege by camera toting tourists rather than gun
slinging criminals. But, our tours are not about reaching
regions where mainstream tourists travel! Sure, we will meet
a few tourists here and there but, we prefer to ride off the
tourist routes getting you to regions where many people only
get to see on postcards!
Nature & Diversity
Peace, quiet and pure natural surroundings
Nature
is the keyword on this motorcycle tour riding in magnificent
natural surroundings especially our visit into Phu Chi Fah
forest where we stay one evening 1700 meters above sea level
in glorious surroundings with an early morning wake up call
we head up to the view point for a spectacular view above
the clouds looking across the mountains of Thailand to the west and
Laos to the east.
We couldn't ride onto this region without a visit to the Golden Triangle where the borders of 3 countries are guarded by the mighty Mekong river weaving it's way down from southern China through the Golden triangle down to the lower delta in Vietnam. The Mekong is the lifeline for this whole region feeding south east Asia with essential goods bringing food and supplies from China but most importantly fish from the river itself including the Giant Mekong Catfish.
As always are tours are more about the region, the people and the nature of the country rather than the bike ride itself but don't be mislead....This trip offers one of the best bike rides in the world through spectacular surroundings in a cultural diverse region.
Back to Basics
Leave our western style behind for a few daysTo appreciate the life of the people in a country and to see the pure nature of a country and it's civilization we sometimes move way from our western ways and adopt the local style. We design our tours in such a way you leave feeling you really became a part of the local life rather than being a tourist sat on one side of the fence looking across. The places we will stay most evenings will be in small towns and villages and mountain tops on the jungles edge. Although Thailand receives many millions of tourist per year you wouldn't believe that was the case when riding a tour with us! Outside of Chiang Mai most evenings it will be very rare if you find yourself sharing a resort or guest house with another western tourists (apart from the rest of the group) and this tour is not an exception.
You will be able to interact with the local people on their level as well as the Akha hill tribes from Burma and the Yao hill tribe from Laos. We usually try to avoid places where the local people are a tourist attraction as to us this is more akin to visiting a zoo rather than a cultural scene. Instead the people you will meet on your tour will be genuinely pleased to see you and to learn about you rather than seeing you as just another tourist dollar.
