OctoberOctober is typically the end of the Monsoon season and rains are (usually) coming to an end but be aware that October can still be quite wet if the monsoons are late ending. We start operating tours around mid to end of October and should you choose to ride at this time of the year the off road sections can be a little wet making it suitable for experienced dual terrain riders only. November Through January
Evenings are often quite cold but don't let that put you off! Cold and Thailand are not words usually found in the same sentence and this is true for central and southern regions but let's not forget that Northern Thailand is the Sub Himalayan mountainous region and the higher up you go the cooler it becomes. Where we ride, night time temperatures can drop as low as 4-5 degrees but all hotels and guest houses account for this so you will find very warm quilts on your bed. The lower temperatures make for fantastic scenery in the mornings! Riding at 1500 meters above sea level with cotton clouds nestled within the valleys below us make for awesome photographs! This is our peak tour times and remembering we restrict our tour group number to manageable sizes we operate a strict first come first served basis on tour places so don't hang around booking a place or you could be disappointed. FebruaryAnother of our peak booking times! February leads up toward the hot season so temperatures are starting to creep up. Early February is great though towards the mid and end of the month heat haze may be creeping in and the leaves on the trees will be starting to drop. Off road can be quite dusty in fact very dusty on places with thick powder however, despite that all in all February is still a great time to ride! |

With such a great destination to take a motorbike tour October to February is the best time to ride Motorbikes in Northern Thailand with warm temperatures, clear blue skies, sun, hardly any rain and forests alive with fresh lush greenery from the recent monsoon season. Most of our motorbike pictures on this website were taken this time of the year! To select the absolute perfect times read our guide below.
You cant go wrong! Off road early November may still be a little moist in the jungles but great fun. The optimum time is December and January and temperatures vary quite dramatically the higher up we go into the mountains (where our tours operate). Day time, expect an average of 26-28 degrees C, making perfect riding conditions and thanks to the monsoon rains (July to mid October) the roads have been washed clean making them nice and sticky. Off road is pure heaven with hardly any dust, rivers can be high but make for great fun trying to cross them.
We went on an off road tour with Motorbike Thailand from
the 19th to the 26th of July. As Andy said; "each day
would be more challenging than the last" and he was certainly true to
his word. Every single day was more challenging
culminating in us having lunch with representatives of the Sham army
1500m up a mountain. I have to say the trip was exceptional and i will definitely be back
next year. The bikes and accommodation were both great along with the camaraderie between all the guys. One of the expectational aspects of the
week was that Andy really made an effort to teach, particularly Michel
and I how to ride a bike properly both on and off the road. I will
always take inspiration from his "get you r f**ing feet on the pegs when I am next sliding down a hill of mud on a bike. Cheers guys for a great week! Mark (Hong Kong near the outskirts of Scotland)
