Day 1 Arrive into Chiang MaiMeet & Greet Day!. Accommodation included in tour price!
You will be met at Chiang Mai airport and transferred to our quality city hotel in downtown Chiang Mai within walking distance of all the nightlife and attractions. Our team will be busy collecting all members of the group over the course of the day so a good time for you to chill out after your long flight. A few beers and some food early evening to get to know everyone. Bikes will be ready and waiting at the hotel prepared for the mornings departure.
Day 2 Burma BorderAll on road today on into a remote region. Distance 170 kilometers
Starting the day with a hearty breakfast followed by a safety briefing we gear up and head for the remote Border region towards the northern edge of Thailand. A short section of main highway riding cutting through the valleys and mountains before our Lunch stop for some delicious Thai food. Following lunch we head off the main highway onto the glorious 'B' roads or 'rural routes' offering a taste of the quality of the roads in Thailand on a roller coaster of a trip with stunning mountain scenery and glorious pine forests. The evening will be spent in a small family run guest house with all modern amenities in the company of a delightful Thai family who have lived in this region for over 40 years.
Day 3 Adventure day to Pai.Riding through the pine forests to the popular town of Pai. Distance 90 kilometers
Leaving shortly after breakfast we follow the old logging routes downhill into the famous town of Pai. Today is on un-surfaced roads but easy for any rider to deal with. Riding at a nice easy pace we take in the scenery and experience quintessential rural Thailand passing through many hill tribe villages on route and arriving into the vibrant but chilled out mountain town of Pai. Checking into our luxury resort around 2pm for a fine local Thai lunch on the edges of an infinity pool over looking the paddy fields and mountains. Rest of the day at leisure then travel into town early evening for to visit the vibrant walking street and markets and evening meal.
Day 4 Little YunnanExperience the tea plantations of "Little Yunnan"
Leaving Pai we head onto the Mae Hong Son Loop one of the most famous motorcycle roads in the world. This road offers bikers stunning scenery riding bend after bend of top quality surfaced road cutting over a myriad of mountain peaks. Quite a few ascents and descents ranging from 300 to 1250 meters above sea level and all before lunch time where we stop at a popular roadside cafe for BBQ ribs and a walk around a beautiful cave filled with sacred fish that eat bizarrely pineapples and other fruits!?! Moving on from our lunch spot we head high into the mountain to the border of Thailand with Burma, know as Little Yunnan this Tea plantation region is home to mainly Yunnanese Chinese. Great road riding with a small section of easy dirt trails.
Day 5 Mae Hong SonRoyal Projects and Mae Hong Son.
Visit to the Royal palace and royal project followed by the ride off the mountain and into Mae Hong Son city. We arrive in the city early afternoon with a visit to the famous 'Temple on the Hill' offering outstanding views over this beautiful city before arriving at our hotel around 3pm for the remainder of the day by the pool. Early evening we visit the hill tribe market before dinner.
Day 6 Hill tribe experiencePraised as one of the best days on the trip.
Leaving our quality hotel we head high into the mountains for a roller coaster of a ride on 'B' roads and pine forest trails. Today's ride will be a little more challenging than previous days with some very steep hill climbs but still easy enough to cope with for the majority of riders and yet again some outstanding views this time over towards Thailand's highest mountain standing at an impressive 2565 meters above sea level. Our destination this evening is 1200 high in the mountains in a superb Hill Tribe Lodge. Evening meal alongside a burning log fire to keep off the mountain chill and in the capable hands of the Karen hill tribes. A chance to witness a day in the life of the mountain people in a true working village.
Day 7 Chiang MaiA choice of route for the group today.
For those new to Dual Terrain riding and have enjoyed the little sections of Dirt riding on this trip we can make our way back to Chiang Mai on an easy off road section or those that have enjoyed the awesome quality and experience of the roads so far may wish for some more and if so you can ride Rte 1095 back into Chiang Mai including over 1100 twists and bends. Either route will allow us to arrive into Chiang Mai around 3 pm to your quality 3 star city hotel. This evening we will head into town for a meal in one of the cities finest Thai restaurants.
Day 8 DepartSadly it's time to go.
Following the end of a superb Dual Terrain holiday it's time to leave. Our staff will make arrangements for your transfer to the airport.
Recommendations and notes.
Rated as suitable for at least "Intermediate - Advanced" riders. This route has been carefully designed after many years experience to offer suitable riding for most riders yet going that little bit further into the lesser seen regions without it being too challenging. The dirt sections are easy and nothing to stress about and the road sections are an absolute joy to ride. Accommodation chosen to blend in with the natural essence of the region each evening with a couple of traditional Thai resorts offering traditional service and room quality and unique lodges and guest houses. Not only are you looked after well each evening you will get a taste and feel of the true Thailand.
Private rooms are included for the first and last night but on tour (nights 2-6) are sharing unless you specifically ask us for private rooms on these evenings.
