This tour was originally surveyed in 2010 and we thought it could never be beaten, but each year after many survey tours (last was early 2017) we added new trails with the assistance from the Royal Thai Forestry department and the Royal Thai Army. Trust us, You won't get better than this!
Grab a flight to Chiang Mai Thailand where we have arranged for you to stay smack in the middle of Chiang Mai's vibrant nightlife the night before we ride. You can also fly in earlier and grab some extra R&R before we hit the trails. just let us know and we will arrange it for you. Unlike many companies we don't put you up in a cheap B&B when you arrive! You will stay in a luxury downtown hotel, complete with pool and all amenities and walking distance to the local bars/clubs and attractions and you will have a private room while in Chiang Mai city.
The tour is 8 days in total with 6 full days riding and this includes 1 night before and after the ride in Chiang Mai city unless you decide to extend. As for the riding....The best off road routes are close to the sensitive border regions around 350 kilometers west of Chiang Mai so after a short ride on road out of the city we make our way onto the trails leading us to the Border of Burma where the fun really begins and for most of the trip we ride parallel with the Thai/Burmese border on trails more fun you can possibly have with your pants on!
Over 200 river crossings some around 25 meters wide including a few kilometers riding up rivers and into some of the most sensitive region in the kingdom (take a look at the video). You will be riding in one of the least populated region of Thailand, a 14,000 square kilometer region with the highest mountain peaks up to 2500 meters above sea level and in the most densely forested region in the country. Each night you will stay in a different location in small comfortable lodges in nearby towns and villages.
Ever ridden more than 160 river crossing in your life? You will do this on one day on this route leading us up to the sensitive Kachin State reagion of Burma! Of the previous customers fortunate to have ridden this route with us many have made this trip the benchmark for all their future tours, and after all the years we have ridden in Thailand we most definitely agree!
Recommendations & Notes
This is a long ride around 1200 kilometers and you must be fit and healthy. When you book this tour we need honest information about your riding experience in order to get you into a group with other riders of the same ability as the route is adjusted on the fly to suit various levels of rider. You do not need to be an Enduro 'Superstar' to ride this route but you need to be competent and able to cover long distances in sometimes difficult situations but most importantly, you must be able to ride well with a group and ride as a team.
Unlike other tour routes this route has been designed purely for the best riding money can buy, meaning the locations we stay at have been sourced close to each off road trail rather than sourcing the routes around the best accommodation. This minimises the amount of road riding to get to the trails but it does mean that accommodation is limited to us in regards to the amount of rooms we have available each evening so, due to pure logistics we must insist that you book this tour understanding that you will be sharing. On saying that, if spare accommodation is available you can opt to upgrade if spare rooms are available.
