This tour was originally surveyed it in 2010 and we thought it could never be beaten, but each year after many survey tours (last was early 2015) we added new trails with the assistance from the Royal Thai Forestry department. Trust us, You won't get better than this!
Grab a flight to Chiang Mai Thailand where we have arranged for you to stay smack in the middle of Chiang Mai's vibrant nightlife the night before we ride. You can also fly in earlier and grab some extra R&R before we hit the trails. just let us know and we will arrange it for you. Unlike many companies we don't put you up in a cheap B&B when you arrive! You will stay in a luxury downtown hotel, complete with pool and all amenities and walking distance to the local bars/clubs and attractions and you will have a private room while in Chiang Mai city.
The tour is 8 days in total with 6 full days riding and this includes 1 night before and after the ride in Chiang Mai city unless you decide to extend. As for the riding....The best off road routes are close to the sensitive border regions around 350 kilometers west of Chiang Mai so after a short ride on road out of the city we make our way onto the trails leading us to the Border of Burma where the fun really begins and for most of the trip we ride parallel with the Thai/Burmese border on trails more fun you can possibly have with your pants on!
Over 100 river crossings some around 25 meters wide including a few kilometers riding up rivers and into some of the most sensitive region in the kingdom (take a look at the video). You will be riding in one of the least populated region of Thailand, a 14,000 square kilometer region with the highest mountain peaks up to 2500 meters above sea level and in the most densely forested region in the country. Each night you will stay in a different location in small comfortable lodges in nearby towns and villages as well as one night directly on the border with Thailand. Awesome BBQ night in the middle of the jungle!
Not all the routes are accessible even by dirt bike so with the help of the Thai army on one day you and the bikes are loaded onto 'Scorpion Tail boats for a short trip up one of the largest river in Asia to join up with one of the best trails in Thailand! 55 river crossing, single track trails, deep jungle and creek riding.
Of the previous customers fortunate to have ridden this route with us many have made this trip the benchmark for all their future tours, and after all the years we have ridden in Thailand we most definitely agree!
Recommendations & Notes
This is a long ride around 1200 kilometers and you must be fit and healthy. When you book this tour we need honest information about your riding experience in order to get you into a group with other riders of the same ability as the route is adjusted on the fly to suit various levels of rider. You do not need to be an Enduro 'Superstar' to ride this route but you need to be competent and able to cover long distances in sometimes difficult situations but most importantly, you must be able to ride well with a group and ride as a team. If you are coming in a larger group with riders of mixed ability we are able to do this without too much difficulty.
Private rooms are included for the first and last night but on tour (nights 2-6) are sharing unless you specifically ask us for private rooms on these evenings. Accommodation is good quality though on day 3 on the Burmese border accommodation is basic as we are in the jungle though clean/comfortable and with hot showers.
