Day 2 Depart for the town of Pai, Northern ThailandLeave around 10:00 am - Total distance 140 kilometers.
After breakfast and a safety briefing we gear up and head North west toward the famous 'Route 1095' commonly known as the Mae Hong Son Loop. Just 23 kilometers from leaving Chiang Mai city we arrive onto the rural roads winding through picturesque Thai villages, stunning scenery warming us up for the roller coaster of a ride into the mountains to come. Arrive at the famous mountain town of Pai nestled within the Shan Mountains close to the border of Burma.
Day 3 Burmese Border & Mae Hong SonLeave around 8:30am - Total distance around 180 kilometers
After a hearty breakfast we head back onto the Mae Hong Son loop. Yesterdays ride was really a warm up for what today will bring, being the twistiest section of this awesome biking road with a little more technical riding involved. Perfect road surface but with tight hairpin sections on today's ride before arriving at a well known BBQ joint for a delicious BBQ lunch. After lunch it's up to the Burmese border approximately 1700 meters above sea level to visit 'Little Yunnan' a predominantly Chinese Tea growing village before heading back off the mountain and into the Capital city of the province Mae Hong Son to chill by the pool until dinner time.
Day 4 Mae Sariang Via Karen State BorderLeave around 8:30am - Total distance around 260 kilometers
A great day on one of the most beautiful stretches of this famous motorcycle road with some sections so fantastic you'll have smile so wide you'll struggle to take your helmet off at our stops along the route. After lunch we make our way to the probably the most photogenic village in the area which will soon be receiving more visitor than currently with a brand new road being laid here. . Accommodation this evening is in the town of Mae Sariang in a lovely resort just on the edge of town.
Day 5 Chiang Mai via Thailand highest mountainLeave around 9:30am - Total distance around 240 kilometers
It's hardly surprising this road is rated as one of the top biking roads in the world as even on our last stretch back into Chiang Mai the awesome road surface, perfect cambers and sweeping bends are still come at us thick and fast. Riding through Doi Inthanon national park and up to the top of the highest point in Thailand for lunch before making our way into Chiang Mai. Estimated time for arrival is around 5pm and plenty of time to scrub up and see the highlights of Chiang Mai city.
Day 6 Departure DayMake arrangements for your flights today.
Sadly it's time to leave after one of the best short road tours we operate. Our team will make arrangements for your transfer back to the airport.
Recommendations and notes.
We've rated this as 'Intermediate' as the technical riding required will suit riders of this level and higher. The road surface is pretty much perfect through out the trip. The twists and bends are seemingly never ending with hardly a straight section until the very end of the trip so a good knowledge of correct cornering lines are required.
Regards your check out dates there is an option for you to fly out on the night time of day 5 if you are struggling with your schedule and if so, we will adjust the price for you accordingly (though you will miss out on a great night on the town). Our recommendations for bike is the Honda CBR250 unless you are carrying a passenger. Many may feel this is too small a bike but trust our experience, this little sports bike loves this road, nimble and light enough enough to deal with the sharp mountain hairpins with ease. Options to upgrade to a Versys or or ER6 (especially if you have pillion passengers).
