Brief Tour Description

New year tour of North West Thailand.  This tour has been specially arranged for a husband and wife team looking to experience the best of Northern Thailand though avoiding the common "touristy regions'. 

Suitable for all experienced riders and Pillion is available on this tour.  Fully supported with our support truck (if tour exceeds 4 bikes) so if the pillion rider wanted to ride in our truck this is not a problem.  Ideally we would like to attract other couples to join this tour though not essential.

Conditions

New year is a great time to ride!  Perfect weather, crystal clear skies and although it can get a little chilly on the mountain tops at night the daytime temperature of around 28 degrees is perfect for motorcycle touring.  We will be riding the famous Mae Hong Son Loop with quite a few diversions away from the main loop road riding direct to the border of Burma as well as one remote evening 2000 meters above sea level situated directly on the army patrolled border with the Kachin State in Burma (if local conditions allow)

Motorcycles & Your Experience

2010 model Kawasaki Ninja 650cc motorcycles will be used on this tour which are well suited to this famously twisty road.  You must be an experienced and competent rider especially if joining this tour with a pillion rider.  The Mae Hong Son Loop is regarded as one of the top motorcycle roads in the world and no amount of photographs or words will ever prepare you for the almost never ending array of switchbacks and hairpin bends you will be taking on over this 5 day ride.

Tour details

29th December 2010:  Arrive in Chiang Mai city

December30th - January 3rd 2011:  Riding to multiple locations staying at unique destinations each evening (3rd returning back to Chiang Mai approximately 3pm)

January 4th 2011:  Depart

Accommodation

6 nights accommodation is included based on sharing if booking with a pillion rider.  All rooms are of good quality being locally owned hotels and resort style accommodation Thai style all with hot and cold showers in unique chalet style bungalows.  Each night will bring a new destination and new accommodation.

Tour Price & Booking

Due to difficulties in securing accommodation over the new year period this tour must be booked and fully paid before 15th November 2010.

Includes: *Support truck, Kawasaki Ninja 650 (optional BMW GS1200, limited availability) Fuel, oil, National Park entrance fees, Tour leader, Basic Thai lunch, drinking water, Accommodation (if pillion option, sharing room), Chiang Mai airport transfers, New year celebration meal (31st December) farewell dinner in one of Chiang mais most popular Thai restaurants (3rd January), Chiang Mai at night guided tour 29th December.
