August 11th heralded the end of one of the busiest seasons we have had over the past 10 years with some of the most memorable biking experiences to date. Never would we have believed that the "Pub Philosophers" July 19th tour with 4 guys; two of them with minimal off road experience and 2 who were virtually novice riders would have turned out to be the most extreme off road riding we have ever encountered with customers before! Crossing the border into the Shan State Burma under the governance of the Royal Thai and Shan State army in heavy rain and fog on a dirt track where the surface could only be described as a muddy ice rink was indeed memorable! Yes that day was tough but thankfully Colin and Mark averted their plans for a mutiny and stayed with the programme to have probably the best biking experience of their lives. Little did they know that there intended mutiny would have fallen flat as they would not have been allowed back into Thailand without the entire group in tow! A great tour and the most amazing pictures and videos which we will post as soon as possible. We cant not mention David and Sylvia though how we describe these two is beyond words? If ever there were customers that would defy belief it was them (well Sylvia mostly) Regardless of what we threw at her she wanted more and very glad she did. Amazing what a bottle of red wine will do! Have a sneaky suspicion that they will be returning in November! How about it Sylvia and David? The Geordie group...6 guys all friends and what a laugh we had! The best tours we operate are always with riders wanting us and our guides to give them as much as Northern Thailand can offer without limitation! Customer like this know how to utilize the local knowledge of a motorbike tour company and we were glad to exceed their expectations! Most of our past tours with pics, videos etc are posted on our customers pages and maybe worth taking a look at some of the testimonials from the past season! At the time of writing we have not compiled all tours but should be fully complete by end September. 2009/10 season factsTotal Distance Covered on all tours: 21,500 kilometers (give or take 100 kilometers) Countries Toured: Thailand, Cambodia and Laos Total Customers: 43 Customers re-booked for next season: 5 Most memorable sight: Mark on "pub Philosophers tour" completely underwater including his bike in the puddle from hell! We went on an off road tour with Motorbike Thailand from
the 19th to the 26th of July. As Andy said; "each day
would be more challenging than the last" and he was certainly true to
his word. Every single day was more challenging
culminating in us having lunch with representatives of the Sham army
1500m up a mountain. I have to say the trip was exceptional and i will definitely be back
next year. The bikes and accommodation were both great along with the camaraderie between all the guys. One of the expectational aspects of the
week was that Andy really made an effort to teach, particularly Michel
and I how to ride a bike properly both on and off the road. I will
always take inspiration from his "get you r f**ing feet on the pegs when I am next sliding down a hill of mud on a bike. Cheers guys for a great week! Mark (Hong Kong near the outskirts of Scotland)
