ride the famous Mae Hong Son Loop one of the worlds top Motorcycle roads
This
tour actually commenced a week or so earlier so you will be
meeting up with the rest of the group partially through the
tour but you certainly will not be missing out! We
alter our tours every year but keep 2 routes on every tour
and this one is the awesome Mae Hong Son Loop the road of
1000 hairpins.
Actually it's more in the region of 2500 hairpins but you
will be having too much fun counting them along this roller
coaster of a ride. This route brings in some of the
most culturally diverse regions of Thailand riding close to
the Burmese border we will spend time with the ethnic hill tribes
who migrated to this region from Southern China, Tibet and Burma.
This section of the tour we head off the beaten track to
some of the many villages deep with the mountains and this
will be the time to brush up on your off road riding
skills or, if you are new to off roading on bikes let us
show you how it's done. The routes we ride off road
are not difficult providing you are a competent rider!
If you have never done it before trust our experience
you will love it!
Culturally diverse
Experience the ethnic minorities of Thailand
Lisu,
Lahu and Karen are the most numerous of the Hill tribes in
the north West and we should get to meet many of them up in
the mountains way off the beaten track. We rarely
visit the same villages each tour meaning you will not be
one of hundreds that have visited their village before hand.
The majority of villages we visit rarely see any westerners
and although you may think you have come to see them they
will generally be more interested in you than vice versa.
To get to these villages we need to abandon the sealed roads and head into the jungle where we will ride off road through lush tropical jungles and towering waterfalls in pure natural surroundings.
Extend to include Cambodia
Visit one of the ancient wonders of the worldThis tour has the option to extend from a 10 to 20 day package including Cambodia into the schedule. Ride Thailand and fly to Cambodia with us for a amazing journey to the largest religious monument on the world Angkor Wat Read More
Burmese Border
The closest you can get without going in.
Burma
is still a very sealed country and land access is not permitted
however, Thailand has over 1700 kilometers of border with Burma
through some of the most dense jungles in Thailand. Burma
has seen many problems over the last 60 years and more with the
most recent problems in October 2007 however, since the mid
1700's any trouble within Burma has never crossed into Thailand.
We will be close to the Border by as little as 3 kilometers
however, the closer we reach it the more difficult the terrain
so, unless you are a pro Enduro rider we cant get too close.
Burma has had a major influence in culture within the North West of Thailand from refugee's migrating over many years leaving Burma for the sanctuary of Thailand. With their arrival they brought with them strong Buddhist principles to add to an already very strong Buddhist culture and Burmese Architecture seen in many of the temples and even bamboo architecture in the hill tribe villages. We hope after this tour you will leave with the pleasure of meeting not only the Burmese Tai Yai Migrants but also the Lisu, Lahu and Karen who fled Burma over many years
