Scooter tours from Chiang Mai Northern Thailand

Our scooter tours are now becoming very popular!  We introduced them early in 2006 as we were getting many requests from people that wanted a big bike tour but had no real experience.  So along comes our scooter tours as a great alternative.

This scooter tour operates on what is now become one of the most popular destinations for travellers and backpackers taking  route 1095 from Chiang Mai to Pai over the hairpin bends and mountains.  The travel options are to take the painfully slow and hot local bus tightly packed with the local goats or chickens!  Or, the slightly more expensive option of the mini bus usually driven by a demented demon hell bent on taking his life and everyone else's with him.  The journey just to Pai from Chiang Mai is around 4 hours but,  when you arrive in Pai you are now without wheels.  This is where our scooter tours start to shine as an available option.

We start our journey in Chiang Mai city and head into Pai.  When riding this route you will see the local buses and the traveller within probably looking at you in envy.  We will be enjoying the fresh air and the serene beauty of riding over these mountains.  We arrive in Pai for 1 night to refresh ourselves and to check out the local scene and we recommend this not because Pai night scene is unique with it's trendy bars and great music scene but mainly because this will be the last night of anything you are used to western style.  From here on we get miles away from Tourism and tourists and into hill tribe territory

Continuing past Pai we have a chance to visit the local Hill tribes in Pangmapha (Soppong) also the famous Tham Lod Cave before heading onwards and upwards to the Border of Thailand and Burma and on toward Doi Inthanon, Thailand's highest mountain.   We will be staying in remote locations where most tourists rarely find.  This tour will show you without doubt the best bits of North West Thailand and the bits most people rarely get to see.

In total our 6 day journey will be around 600 kilometres taking in the full circumference of the famous Mae Hong Son loop. 

The beauty of our scooter tours is they offer outrageous fun as well as being able to take you exactly where you want to go and getting closer to nature.  We are able to alter these tours as you wish.  There is an option to extend the riding by 3 days and venture even farther into the Thai outback.

Day 1  : Am:Leave Chiang Mai for Pai North West Thailand.

Day 2  : To Pangmapha stay 1000m meters above sea level in a Lisu Hill tribe Village

Day 3  : To Mae Hong Son and Burma border stay 2000 meters above sea level

Day 4  : To Khun Yuam.

Day 5  : Ride to Mae Chaem and stay below Thailand's highest peak.

Day 6  : To the top of Thailand;s Highest mountain then return Chiang Mai PM.

Motorcycles:  Honda Wave or Dream 100 or 125 cc.

Tour Groups and Sizes.  We need a minimum of 2 riders and 2 pillion or 3 motorcycles without pillion to operate this tour.  If you do not have a group we can still probably get you onto a tour please mail us for details

Do not expect 5 star Hilton Hotels!  This defeats the philosophy behind this tour!  Accommodation is good quality and typical to Thailand with charm and style.  As we ride away from mass tourism sometimes the accommodation is basic.  As yet we have never received a complaint about the accommodation in fact most were glad we do not use charm less Hilton Hotels.  When in Chiang Mai city you will have a international standard hotel with pool and bar.

Food in Thailand is superb although sometimes can be spicy (understatement) but not always.  We arrange breakfast and is included but, please understand a continental breakfast or Great British fry up is not heard of in many places we stay and despite we have tried to get it sorted for you we decided to give up trying as a bad job!  We grab lunch at good local restaurants during the days ride. In the evenings we will arrange your evening meals for you ordering Thai style with plenty of dishes for the whole group to share.  Doing this complements the herbs and spices in each dish.  This is Thai style!

Note: This tour is a true insight into Thai life with a few added luxuries.  Outside the city there is nothing similar to the UK or Europe, and the reason why most people come to experience Thailand.  If you like your home cooked food and western comforts they are found at home!  Not in Asia!

If you are on a severe budget...Allow £3-5 per day for  Thai food.  Good local Beer is lower than 80 pence per large bottle.
