If ever there was a Motorbike tour where words, photos and even a video would never come close to describing in it's full glory it would be this motorbike tour.... We always say if the group is up for almost anything it means the tour leader and the support riders have a ball of a time and if they have a good time the customers do also, and this group was the epitome of that! The tour was our 8 day Dual terrain tour operated in the Monsoon season meaning our choice of routes had to be carefully balanced though we were lucky with the weather the terrain was decidedly tricky at times. As always we operated the route in our normal manner deciding routes and final destinations on the fly. Trying to adhere to a fixed route easily ridden in the dry season would be impossible in the wet season! Thankfully the boys were all aware of the potential outcome of heading deep into the bush in peak monsoon season yet they were all up for it and we have to say we went very deep! It's difficult not to continually write about Mark (The guy in the Blue shirt)! Mark was an avid nature lover and so overwhelmed by the majestic scenery here in the North of Thailand he loved it so much on one day we were sure he racked up 15 'offs' landing right into the bush itself. To be fair the going was a little treacherous that day riding in thick boggy clay up to 1500 meters in the clouds in quite torrential rain, in fact it was so tough one person almost bagan a mutiny yet thankfully the guys held together for our goal of entering the Shan state which (Thankfully for our sake) turned out to be one of the best days of the tour! Michel (last in photo) was not the strongest of riders before he came and also found himself eating dirt far to often. But as they say you learn by your mistakes! Michel learned that on slippery clay once you feel you are losing control of the bike it's best to let off the gas rather than power up and ride straight through the garden fence of one of the poorest farmers on the planet! We make no secret of the fact our motorcycle tours are adventure tours though balanced carefully to within the perceived boundary of each persons idea of an adventure. Glenn (second in photo) and Colin (third in photo) were the strongest riders in the group however their adopted homelands of Abu Dhabi and UAE doesn't quite offer the terrain to train for a ride in wet season Northern Thailand. Colin just seemed to plod on throughout the tour and took on almost everything in his stride though leader of the "Shan State Motorcycle Mutiny" he did admit his boundaries were pushed at times. Glenn seemed to have the look of a startled deer on occasions though we are fairly sure since this ride his biking career will become far more active as we are sure we pushed him far beyond what he thought he was capable of. (As we were writing this Glenn has now purchased a shiny new bike and Colin is taking delivery of a Royal Enfeield fitted with Enduro tyres)! To Colin, Glenn, Mark and Michel...For us this tour will not be forgotten you were all a pleasure to ride and socialise with. We would have to rate this as the most crazy terrain we have ever ridden with customers and so glad you all had the time of your life and we sincerely look forward to seeing you all again. To prospective customers reading this: Our 10 years experience of operating Motorbike tours in this region allows us to tailor each tour on the fly to suit each person and groups ability and experience. Some of you may feel that a tour like this is out of your experience but please remember this tour was taken at the most difficult time to ride motorbikes in Thailand but we are pretty good at proving that your perceived level of experience is usually much greater than you originally thought. Ask Mark and Michel who came with us as almost novice riders who couldn't believe they did what they actually did and both are ready to book again for the next wet season. Please speak to Andy who will be happy to discuss your next Motorcycle Adventure tour |

Update On The Pub Philosophers: OMG, they are coming back for a reunion in July 2011!!!?? Must be mad all of them!
"Two guides accompanied us and their very different personalities and skills complemented one another perfectly to create an excellent team, in whose capable hands I felt entirely comfortable. Their energies were enthusiastically channelled into ensuring our wellbeing. Our accommodation was not pre booked, giving the flexibility to modify and tailor the route to suit our interests. We were fortunate to be able to extend our tour; having booked a dual terrain trip at short notice we added an extra three days whilst out on the road". Sylvia December 2009
